 People change, don't they? The biggest changes take place in children - especially ages birth to 15! Your body changes. Your mind changes. And you develop a personality all your own - maybe you're tall and shy and like math; maybe you are athletic and kind, and sensitive. 

I'm sure your parents have warned you about 'bad' people who might harm you or trick you. Maybe you've met some people that you think are 'bad' or bullies at school. Hopefully, that's not you. BUT, the Bible teaches us that bad people can change - like Judah that we learned about yesterday. The Bible teaches, however, that the only real and lasting change for good takes place by the power of God. We can pray and ask God to change our hearts and actions to please Him as we grow.

Week Three (continued) - The Names

 In the Old Testament God reveals Who He is by telling us His Name. In fact, He relates over 15 Names and many more descriptions that we may know Him. We will see that Jesus identifies with many of the Names of God; yet, even in the Old Testament God announces that He is doing something new -  The word Messiah comes from the Hebrew word massah, meaning to smear or anoint something or someone. Certain people - either a priest (Exodus 28:41), a prophet (1 Kings 19:16) or a king (1 Samuel 16:12) – were anointed as being especially chosen by God for a task. From its first use in the Old Testament 'Messiah' was promised to be the coming King and Judge by God's strength. The Greek word for Messiah was Christ, also taken from a word, christos, meaning to anoint.   John 12 follows the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.   Abraham and Isaac - Matthew 1:2, Genesis 22 “And Abraham said, ‘God, Himself, will provide  the lamb  for the burnt offering, my son.’ ... And Abraham looked up and behind him he saw a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns."  Genesis 22:8,13 Throughout the Old Testament, God revealed Himself and His plan to men and women stirring their hearts to trust Him as God. Instead of Abraham offering up his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice to God ...
