'A Savior is Coming' (for teens)

 

 

Before words were written stories were told. This story was told carefully from parents to children, so truth would not be lost. Many times and again, this story was told and memorized and passed on to the children of the children of the first man and the first woman. The story told about their Creator God - His goodness and loving care. It told of His power and His authority. 

The story also told of the disobedience of people, from the first story-tellers to the last who would listen. And disobedience had punishment - separation from our perfect and good Creator, God. The story was eventually written down around 1500BC, 1500 years before the birth of Jesus. This story also told of a Promise of God's Solution to this awful problem that ended in death. It is the story recorded in the first part of the Bible and it told of our Creator God's Promise of Salvation for anyone who would listen and believe, 'A Savior is coming!'

 In the Old Testament God reveals Who He is by telling us His Name. In fact, He relates over 15 Names and many more descriptions that we may know Him. Old Meets New (the Covenants reviewed)

   God’s covenants throughout   the Old Testament promise ‘A Savior is coming.’  God's Promise in His rainbow to Noah speaks of His judgment but His mercy as well. God would raise up through Abraham a special people through which He would show the world His acts of faithfulness, blessing and salvation. In the Mosaic Law God shows His ways for us to live together with Him and with each other. Even with God's near Presence we fail miserably, but God's Way offers forgiveness. To David God Promised an anointed One, a King, Who would be a Savior - for Israel, and for all nations. God fulfilled all the promises of His covenants that He made even when people did not. Typically, each covenant was ratified with the blood of a sacrifice which declared, 'if I don't uphold my end of the bargain, then may I be slain like this sacrifice.' Abraham and the Lamb

  Abraham and Isaac - Matthew 1:2, Genesis 22 “And Abraham said, ‘God, Himself, will provide  the lamb  for the burnt offering, my son.’ ...
