The Abrahamic Covenant (for teens)

Today, Israel stands as a nation like no other. Around 1500 BC, she came out of captivity from Egypt as a generation of freed slaves and entered Canaan, her present location. Around 600BC they were taken from their land to Babylon and returned 70 years later. In 70AD, around 40 years after Jesus' death and resurrection, they were exiled out of their land again by the Roman military. They fled to the nations throughout the middle east, Europe and Asian and eventually the Americas where they assimilated into society. They were often persecuted and killed, but miraculously they survived and maintained their distinct Jewish identity. Finally, after World War 2, more than 1800 years after they had been dispersed by Rome, they were able to return to their homeland and reestablish the nation of Israel again in 1948!  Even today, Israel stands in the middle of many enemies, but through Jesus, and the fruit of God's people, she continues to be a blessing to the world - a sign of God's faithfulness to His people.
